GENTSE FEESTEN Orson Claeys Solo

Orson Claeys is a 25-year-old musician and composer from Ghent, Belgium. Despite his non-musical background, he was always drawn to music. His parents’ varied collection of cassettes, CDs, and LP’s, spanning Hip-Hop to Jazz and Classical to Rock, played a pivotal role in shaping his musical journey.

Claeys started playing classical piano at the age 10, he later shifted towards jazz after discovering the captivating melodies of legendary Jazz and Funk pianist Herbie Hancock at 17. This led him to pursue formal education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under the guidance of Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Loriers.

Claeys blends jazz with elements of Oriental music and hip-hop, inspired by artists like Aaron Parks, Robert Glasper, Ambrose Akinmusire, Shai Maestro, and Dhafer Youssef. His compositions reflect a fusion of cultural influences, crafting a unique sonic experience that resonates with listeners.

This time he invites the audience into an intimate solo performance, taking listeners through a rich tapestry of colour and sound.
